Blues want loyalty from Seb

Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan wants to see a 'season of loyalty` from midfielder Seb Larsson.

The 23 year old Swede impressed all at St Andrews last season despite the club being relegated on the last day of the season.

But the player has turned down a new five year contract with the Blues and stated he wanted to play top flight football, but chairman David Gold has said he is not for sale.

Now Sullivan has spoken out about the situation.

'We feel he owes us at least a season of loyalty,' Sullivan told the Birmingham Mail. 'We took him from Arsenal reserves and made him an international player.

'Although we do accept from his point of view he has given us two years excellent service and it wasn't his fault that we were relegated.

'We feel it's not the right time to sell him from the club's point of view. We hope in due course he realises we are being entirely reasonable.

'We have the highest respect for him, that is why we've offered him a new contract, doubling his money, despite the fact that he's got two years left on his existing contract and we have a two-year option at the end of his existing contract.

'We fully accept that there are two sides to any dispute, but we feel we are entitled to one more year of commitment from the player.

'We are firmly of the opinion that this time next season we will be back in the Premier League.'
