More signings very unlikely

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish says that there will be no more permanent signings before the transfer deadline passes at midnight tonight.

Blues were hoping that they would have had Celtic defender Bobo Balde in the squad by now, but there were complications with the player and Celtic at first, followed by the news that the player would not move because his family was settled in the area.

McLeish has no other targets and Blues will only do some business if something dramatic crops up today.

"There will be no transfer permanently, I doubt that very much," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

"We will look at loan deals and we will do that after the deadline.

"I am pleased with the squad I have got and I think we are capable of gaining promotion if we keep all our current players fite and avoid suspensions."

very disappointing about balde, we could still do with a defender or two in my opinion

you had to go to Carrow Road to appreciate quite how bad Blues were on Saturday. alarm bells are ringing very loud. we dont look like a team, we look like a couple of individuals carrying the rest. Agustien horrendous, Ridgewell atrocious, full backs awful, Quincy poor, McFadden non existent. only players to come out with some credit were Larsson,Phillips and Tiny. completely lacklustre, second to every ball, no desire, no a lot of skill. utter rubbish...yet I still think we;ll go up automatic, because 1 - norwich played their best and couldnt beat us, 2 we played our worst and got any away point, 3 other teams dont have the strikers to punish our hopeless defence, 4 at home we wont drop many points...please mcleish buy a couple of players befoer transfer window closes

Balde's wage demands stopped Wolves' interest in him didn't it? He's one of the top earners at Celtic at £30,000 a week..

If we don't get another centre mid and a centre back in, you can have me down on record as saying we will not finish in the top two.
