'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gold believes in McLeish

David Gold has been singing the praises for Blues manager Alex McLeish saying that he is the man who will steer Birmingham back to the Premier League.

McLeish took over the club in November but he found the team relegated on the last day of the season, but this season he has got off to a good start.

This will be his first full season in charge and so far top flight football looks like a possibility next season although there is a long way to go.

But Gold is confident.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail he said: 'We are hoping to get a bit of momentum going when we return from the international break.

'We have made a very good start, we are at the top of the table, and I, like others, believe we can get even better.

'This is the first full season under a new manager, a man who is a winner and wants to progress this club, a man we have utmost faith in.

'The relationship the board and myself have with Alex is excellent. We are all singing off the same hymn sheet. When you have got somebody pulling in a different direction then it's very, very difficult. We are very much together and we all get on very well.'
