Gaffers View: Burnley (a)

Gaffers View: Burnley (a)

Blues boss Alex McLeish watched his side come from a goal down to earn a point at Burnley on Saturday, here is what he had to say after the game.

Burnley dominated for long periods and deserved to take the lead when striker Paterson sent in a cross from the by-line which was met by the head of McCann, whose late surge into the box left Taylor with no chance.

Then in the 77th minute, James McFadden's shot was saved by Clarets stopper Jensen but the ball fell in the right place for Jerome who slotted home the equaliser.

McLeish admitted: 'It was a tough game, we gained a point in a difficult venue and, as you can see from the Preston result, reality bites in the Championship.

'It's a 90-minute game and we pressed them in the second half. We were much better in the second 45 minutes.

'I stayed loyal to the boys who played against Queens Park Rangers, but stringing two or three passes together in the first half proved difficult.

'We have been fantastic at bouncing back from setbacks. But I felt our play in the second half merited something although there were too many indifferent performances in the first half.'
