'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gaffers View: Sheff Weds (h)

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish was more than pleased with his side`s 3-1 over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and he also heaped praise on Garry O`Connor.

The boss said: 'To have 30 points from 13 games is a tremendous performance. I'm delighted that we made such a great start to the season.

'It is certainly better to have the points on board instead of having to play catch-up later in the season.

'It was a very good performance following on from our midweek success. We took it a step further against Wednesday.

'You could see the confidence in the players. Apart from the equalising goal we were generally well in control.'

Commenting upon O'Connor's two-goal performance, McLeish said: 'I don't think people realise that he is a decent player.

'He is the best finisher in the club and now he is showing it at Birmingham after doing it at Hibs and in Moscow.

'Another pleasing feature is that he is now linking up well with Kevin Phillips.'

O'Connor certainly does look class, and I'm considerably worried going into tomorrow night's game!
Boxer
you are starting to look good for coming back to the prem......but can you keep it up ??

I think McLeish will be less than happy with his side's capitulation tonight against 10-man QPR, who seem to have all the Championship momentum. Birmingham cannot take two many surprises like this. The Championship is this year possibly the most competitive league in football!
Sindbad
and then you get beat by QPR........still work to do then ???
