Play-Off Team was better

Play-Off Team was better

Bruce's claim that we have come a long way in 4 years just doesn't stand up. Although we have travelled a long way we have actually got no where.

Comparing last Saturday's line up with the side that fell apart against the Baggies on Saturday shows that we have actually gone backwards.

Maik Taylor –Nico Vaessen – Taylor has been one of the top goalies but is shell shocked from playing behind a weak defence lately. Nico now Maik's understudy was Man of match in Playoff Final.
Verdict- Taylor just better

Mario Melchiot- Geoff Kenna -Mario tries too hard. Geoff was our captain and never tried anything beyond his capability.
Verdict- Kenna more reliable

Latka – Steve Vickers -Steve had forgotten more about defending than Latka will ever know
Verdict- Vickers –No Contest

Martin Taylor – Michael Johnson Johnno was quick whole hearted and gave his all. Taylor doesn't
Verdict- Johnson wins hands down

Stan Lazaridis. - Martin Grainger. Grainger has never been replaced Stan is a stand in.
Verdict- Grainger simply a legend

Jermaine Pennant- Paul Devlin .Very similar in personality and style. Both could have had fewer nights out. Devlin produced more for Blues Pennant is top class.
Verdict- Evens

Nicky Butt –Oliver Tebily. Oliver gave more in the play-off final than Nick has in a season. As footballers Nick would win but Oliver is one for the trenches.
Verdict- Olli by Golly!

Damian Johnson- Bryan Hughes Johnno was not good enough for the play-off team but is irreplaceable now. Hughes was a good servant.
Verdict- Current Johnno is better

David Dunn- Tommy Mooney -Dunn is on a different planet to Tommy but can't help us from his sick bed. Tommy had billiard table legs but scored a goal.
Verdict -Dunn, even for 5 games a season

Mikeal Forssell- Geoff Horsfield. What a footballer you would have with these two combined. Grafter and goal scorer. Fit Miko would be obviously be better but he's not.
Verdict- Better a fit Horse than a spent Force.

Emile Heskey- Stern John When Emile gets a few goals or nets an important one then that will swing it.
Verdict Stern's going to the World Cup Emile isn't.

I make that seven to three and one even in favour of the Play-off team.

The Play off team would not keep us in the division and neither would a combined team. So Steve Bruce the only place you have brought us too is backwards!

I guess that's why they call 'em the BLUES.

I really think bruce has a good side and good squad. Your injuries have been b all accounts, dreadful. You aven't had a consistent side all season and missing your best players for most of it doesn't help. Doesn't help anyone when bruce plays his son though.

Interesting no one disagrees with the fact the Play off side was better. Damion Johnson was our best player totay and did not make the playoff final
