Carr set to extend Blues stay

Carr set to extend Blues stay

Stephen Carr is expected to sign an extended deal with Blues that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

At the end of February the defender was tempted out of retirement to sign a one month contract at St Andrews.

The 32-year-old started all six games during his time at the club and impressed all with his displays and experience.

'Stephen's experience is terrific, but not only that, his quality on the ball has been a big plus for us,' McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

'I'm delighted we acquired Stephen, it was one that was totally out of the blue and a guy who had apparently retired. I was fortunate enough to have the right contacts to bring him in.

'A new deal is in the offing and something will be tied up in the next couple of days.'
