Balde offered a chance with Blues

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has invited Celtic defender Bobo Balde to train with the club.

The centre back`s current contract with Celtic runs out at the end of the season and the Blues boss is keen to strengthen his defence.

'We extended an invite to Balde to train with us and that's as far as it has gone,' McLeish said.

'We don't know if that will happen, there is a lot of water to go under the bridge. He has got internationals in the summer and I'm pursuing legitimate targets.

'Balde looks like he will be a free agent and I have to look at any opportunity I can get.'
