Gold pleased with rebuilding so far

Gold pleased with rebuilding so far

Birmingham chairman David Gold is pleased with how things are going concerning boss Alex McLeish`s rebuilding of the current Blues squad.

McLeish is identifying targets to strengthen his squad and has already brought in striker Christian Benitez who set a transfer record for the club. And there should be more new signings on the way as manager and Board work together to make sure Blues stay in the Premier League this time.

Gold told the Birmingham Mail: 'David Sullivan is working very well with Alex and they have a great relationship when it comes to negotiations.

'My ultimate belief is that we will complete our programme of getting the people that Alex wants, obviously ideally he'd like to bring in a lot more than Birmingham City could afford.

'We don't want to blow up expectation as we have done before but we are quietly optimistic that we are going to pull off one or two signings that will set the season alight.'
