Blues score and win at last

A strong-looking Birmingham side scored their first goal of pre-season in a 1-0 victory against League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge.

Alex McLeish's side could not find the net during three warm-up matches in Austria but Marcus Bent's strike after 77 minutes helped them to victory.

He almost added a second but was denied by Daggers goalkeeper Tony Roberts after Lee Bowyer's pass had put him clear.

Blues handed starts to summer signings Scott Dann, Roger Johnson, Barry Ferguson and Keith Fahey at the Barking & Dagenham Stadium.
