Gijon star to have medical at Blues

There has been reports today that Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel will undergo a medical at Birmingham City on Wednesday after the two clubs agreed a fee.

Blues boss Alex McLeish has been looking at the player for some time and was impressed when the two sides played a friendly game earlier this month.

McLeish was hoping that the Birmingham Board would release the funds to buy the player

It is now understood that the Premier League newcomers have settled on a 3million fee with Gijon to secure the deal.

The deal could be completed in time for Michel to be available for Birmingham's game at home to Stoke City on Saturday.
