Phillips Expects A Bench Role For Some Time.

Blues striker Kevin Phillips is expecting to remain on the bench for the foreseeable future at St Andrews, but he still feels that he has a part to play.

Now 36, Phillips has made just one start for Birmingham this season and that was in the home game against Stoke City.

But he is hoping to carry on helping Blues from the bench, using his skills to turn a game that Blues might not be having too much luck in in front of goal.

Phillips told the Birmingham Post: 'It (this season) has gone the way I thought it would. It is always frustrating to be sitting on the bench but I knew that was going to happen this year.

'I can't see it changing from now until the end of the season. It's up to me that when I get my chance I try and help the team win games.'

He should have been offloaded in the summer and a proper striker brought in, he's past it now.
