McLeish Set To Fight West Ham Over Duo

Alex McLeish says Birmingham have no intention of letting duo Liam Ridgewell and Sebastian Larsson go to West Ham without a long and drawn out fight, loophole or no loophole.

The pair are both out of contract in the summer, but there is an option - written in their contracts by Sullivan and Gold - which allows Blues them to retain the pair for a further 12 months.

But Sullivan believes he can get around this because of a loophole in Fifa laws, but McLeish is taken aback that Sullivan would seek to undermine a contractual device he and Gold have relied on for years.

'They were the ones that have used it year in, year out,' he said.

'If someone wants to challenge it, it will be like Bosman. It will take four or five years.

'On you go - if you want to challenge it I don't see it being ratified over 24 hours. It would be a long, protracted mission. You are talking lawyers. We will fight to keep them.'
