Jerome In Talks

Skysports have tonight revealed that Blues have been given permission to speak to Cardiff's 20 goal striker Cameron Jerome.

Bruce has made the England U-21 international a prime target over the last few weeks and as we all know was knocked back in his attempts to sign the player earlier this week.

It is believed that a fee has now been settled upon and Jerome's agent, Tony Finnigan has effectively confirmed as much to Skysports.

'We are talking with Birmingham, after we were told we could do so by Cardiff - so from that you can presume they have agreed terms.

'At this moment they are the only club we are talking with or have been told we can talk with.

'We would expect Cameron's future to be decided by early next week.'

It is believed the asking price for Jerome would be in the region of £3.5-4 million. Although Birmingham are the only club talking to him interest has been expressed by Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion.

i think this is his best move, but he's never worth 4m

Blimey green giant that was a quick comment! Why don't we see you on the message boards???? I agree, his agent has to be telling him that moving to Blues is the best way to progress, a jump to the Premiership this early could kill his career if things didn't go to plan and there are no guarantees that Sheff U won't bounce back down. Albion won't be going up but at least with the right planning from us we stand a chance and he can play a part in building a successful promotion push and hopefully a very successful career. I just hope his agent isn't thinking too much of pound signs and the big money big jump move for him. 3-4 million is steep, BUT if he does work out it'll be a snip compared to what we could pay for a far less capable player - or have in the past paid for players who have failed to shine.

Will be very interesting as it is the sort of signature that either makes or breaks a manager. It is a very high fee for a player so young but if he does the business then the fee will become irrelevant.

Oh; and if he scores 20 goals for us next season, we will be there or there abouts to bounce straight back up into the Prem.
