Blues - Kilkenny The Kangaroo!

Blues - Kilkenny The Kangaroo!

Blues Player of the Year 2005/6 (not exactly hotly contested was it?) Neil Kilkenny is training with the Australian national side in the Netherlands.

The Socceroos boss Guus Hiddink wanted to give our 20-year-old midfielder some experience but it is thought highly unlikely that Kilkenny, who was born in England but grew up in Australia, will be included in the full squad for the World Cup finals in Germany this summer.

Kilkenny has represented England but under Fifa rules he would still be able to play for Australia if selected because his only England appearances are at Under 19 level.

Great to see another socceroo to follow in the future, whether he makes it into the squad now or not.
