Foster Should Be Fit For First Game

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has high hopes of keeper Ben Foster being fit enough to start in Blues first games of the season against Sunderland on Saturday.

A trip to Sunderland on Saturday could have been unlikely for Foster after he withdrew from the England squad last week with a back problem.

But the 27-year-old looks set to take his place in the starting line up at the Stadium Of Light.

'Ben's got a little bit of a back problem,' McLeish told the club's official website.

'There's a bit of a spasm there, but we're pretty hopeful and positive for him making it on Saturday.

'He woke up with a spasm in his back when he was with England, so it wasn't training or anything.'
