Birmingham Tie Up Jiranek Deal

Birmingham City have landed giant defender Martin Jiranek from Spartak Moscow on a twelve month contract.

The fee is officially undisclosed, but Blues manager Alex McLeish now has himself a centr back with Champions League experience and that is worth its weight in gold.

31 year old Jiranek is 6ft 3ins and will bake the Blues back line considerably more solid.

Alex McLeish told bcfc.com: 'We are short at the back with regards to defensive cover.

'Jiranek has tremendous experience on club, European and international fronts.

'He is a good presence and his arrival will keep Roger Johnson and Scott Dann on their toes.'
