McLeish Slaps Ban On Golf Before A Match

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has slapped a ban on his players.... from playing golf 48 hours before a game.

McLeish wants his players to get their full quota of rest and not do anything that would over-exert themselves before an important game.

It`s bad news for the likes of Stephen Carr, Maik Taylor, Roger Johnson and Craig Gardner who like nothing more than a few holes when not at work.

But McLeish insists that this new law is obeyed.

He told the Daily Mirror: 'It is not a day off, it is about recovery.

'Golfing so close to a football match, it stands to reason it is going to take it out of your legs.

'If you are marching around a golf course then it is quite demanding to go and play a game of football 24 or 48 hours later.

'We have a 48-hour ruling, it is in the club rules.

'It is so intensive a league rest is important and days off are also not about going out and getting drunk and sleeping the hangover off.'

No doubt they will find something else to do like sex or even outdoor sex, maybe go dogging.
