Chamakh Denies Conning The Ref

Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh has spoken out about how he did not cheat referee Martin Atkinson into awarding Arsenal a penalty in the game against Birmingham on Saturday.

Chamakh went down in the area under pressure from Scott Dann and Atkinson pointed to the spot, leaving Samir Nasri to fire home the equaliser.

Dann was not impressed about the situation and accused Chamakh of conning the referee.
But the Moroccan striker has hit back saying the enalty was awarded fair and square.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said: 'There was definitely a contact - the Birmingham defender touched me and then it was all about the ref, to give it or not.

'For me there was contact, he definitely touched me and then the referee judged.

'If they think it is not a penalty then they can be disappointed but for me I was definitely touched and I fell because I was touched otherwise I wouldn't have fallen down in the area.

'If they believe it was not a foul and they were one-nil up and obviously it changes the game a bit then it's normal that they will feel disappointed now. But for me it was definitely a penalty.'

He also believes in Santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny. What a load of crap he talks.

felt extremely sorry for you guys, same old cheating arsenal. He is basically saying that he did dive, but its the ref's fault for giving it not his for making a massive meal out of the slightest of touches that would not have felled my g.ma.

I would personally say no penalty, any contact that isn't enough to halt a player or bring him down is not a penalty (or free kick) but the rule seems to have been manifested so that if you do touch the player without getting any of the ball then it's a free kick or pen. I'd say he did touch him with a wild late swing, so by everyone elses laws these days it is a pen. He did dive because there's no way there was enough contact ..... but it is still a penalty. I don't like the ways the rules have changed themselves, but that's the way it goes these days.

I hate arsenal, and that dive and tackle somes up why i hate them, birmingham were cheated.. same old arsenal always cheating

Hats off to Rocky7 for being honest about the incident. Kudos to you sir.

Stuart Parnaby dived to win you a penalty in the 2-2 draw a couple of years ago, goes around comes around. It will happen to us during the season aswell, stop whingeing.

Zbam you really need to move on from the whole diving debate, your best player is the worst play actor in the premiership (Drogba).
iceman10
Hey iceman, I was actually being genuine there. Perhaps you should talk to Rocky7 and ask for a slice of his humble pie, no? Drogba WAS one of the worst, I can admit that but he is far from that way now.
Zbam
He has improved but given the size and strength of him he is still the worst in the prem. Dont need humble pie, I know Chamakh made a meal of it but its a minor issue, birmingham players dive, Arsenal players dive, every team has divers! Cant believe they are so outraged when they had a player dive to win a penalty against us not so long ago.
