O'Connor Hoping For New Contract

Garry O'Connor is hoping that he will soon be able to sort out a new contract with Birmingham City as he wants desperately to stay with the club.

At the moment, the Scot is on a short term six month contract which he got in the summer to give him a chance to prove that he is fit after being out of action with a hip injury for so long.

It should be that he has proved his worth after going out on a loan spell with Barnsley in which he impressed and he also had a good game at the weekend when Blues beat Blackpool at St Andrews.

O'Connor told Sky Sports: 'Nothing is being said at the moment about a new contract.

'The gaffer has got faith in me. It is just about people upstairs at the club.

'I would love to stay at Birmingham. It's a fantastic club and I've enjoyed my time here and hope it can continue.

'I've got to keep my head down and keep working hard.

'But, if it doesn't happen for me here, I can move on being happy with my form at the moment.'
