Zigic Looking To Earn Hero Status Against Villa

Birmingham City striker Nikola Zigic wants to go down in Blues folklore by scoring the winning goal for Birmingham when they play the team from the dark side this weekend.

Zigic has found his scoring touch, hitting two goals in his last two Premier League outings, but the 30 year old has not yet established himself as a crowd favourite.

But he knows he could earn everlasting respect if he was to net the winner in the hostile atmosphere.

Zigic said: 'I have heard of the Birmingham City-Aston Villa rivalry and I have actually seen a couple of games on TV. I am looking forward to it.

'But I am aware I could become an instant hero. Of course I am. It's like every derby the world over. It's a normal situation. I remember my days when I was playing in the Belgrade derby. It's exactly the same thing.

'So, if you do score, especially a winner, you are a hero for life. It is something I am well aware of.'
