Bruce Delighted At New Signing

Bruce Delighted At New Signing

There is somewhat of a revolution going on at Birmingham City. At last we are buying young talents to build not only for next season but the future as well.

Blues yesterday completed the signing of Colchester United midfielder Neil Danns for an initial fee of £500 000. This could rise to £850 000 depending on terms set for add-ons.

Steve Bruce told the official site: 'We are delighted to capture the services of such an exciting young player. Neil scored 16 times last season for Colchester which is an excellent return for a midfielder. He plays with a tremendous commitment and energy and we are sure he will be a huge asset to our team.'

The 23-year-old scored 28 goals in 87 games for Colchester.

Danns, who signed a three year deal, said:

'I had a great time at Colchester and it kick-started my career. But when a club the size of Birmingham come in for you, it's hard to say no. There is so much prestige about the club and the quality of players that are here, it's a great opportunity for me.'

He also knows how to sweet talk us:

'The fans are so passionate here and you can see the ambition with the signing of Cameron Jerome. They are rebuilding the squad here with young, ambitious players and for me to be a part of that is a great opportunity. I'm just looking forward to it so much.'
