'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Too Early For Relegation Talk.

Alex McLeish is not having any relegation talk, especially this early in the season.

Blues are in the bottom three but when you look at the wider picture, Stoke City are in tenth place and just three points more on the board.

Blues have had a poor run of one win in 12 games, but this time last season they were just two points better off than they are now.

McLeish told the Birmingham Mail: 'You can say we're in trouble but we had just two points more after 13 games last season.

'We are staying positive and it was a very good result for us at Man City. The league is very, very competitive. Bolton are stealing a march on the teams round about maybe they thought they were competing with, they have done tremendously.

'But it is still all to play for. It's topsy-turvy. Teams have overtaken each other. You find yourself down the bottom of the league and everybody gets paranoid and panics, 'oh, we shouldn't be there, it's a disgrace, it's this and it's that'.

'But as far as I'm aware the Premier League is decided in May

'I don't like to use the word relegation, certainly not at this particular juncture.

'It's far too premature and its people in the media who like to spin it a little bit and we accept that it's part of the game.

'We have got to show our mettle and steel against that kind of situation.'
