Fahey Wins Trapattoni Praise

Keith Fahey played in the centre of midfield for the Republic of Ireland last night and won praise from the manager Giovanni Trapattoni.

The 27 year old was moved from his more customary right side by the Ireland boss and did well with Stoke City`s Glenn Whelan as a partner.

The Italian said: 'He played very well. He was not only very offensive, he played simply and he played cleverly.

'This was a very difficult game physically and tactically, but Keith Fahey played the way we needed him to.

'He had personality on the ball and I am very satisfied with him.

'I had a little doubt about him in this position, but he played very well.'
