Take A Chance On Me - Phillips

Veteran striker Kevin Phillips wants to be given the chance to score the goals that will keep Birmingham City in the top flight by the end of the season.

Phillips is now 37 but he believes he still has what it takes to score goals in the Premier League instead of sitting on the bench.

And now with Blues wanting to turn losses and draws into a few wins, Phillips would back himself to do the business.

The striker told the Birmingham Mail: 'I'm not 100% fit but the only way I can do that is by getting out there.

'Of course I want to play more and I feel I can. We need to score goals, I'm a goalscorer and I want to be doing that.
'It's been frustrating this first part of the season. It's like last season, when towards the second part I started coming on more and more.

'With a busy schedule over Christmas I'm sure the squad will get used.'
