Derby Day Blow For Dann

Birmingham's defender Scott Dann looks like being out of action for a while after manager Alex McLeish confirmed he has torn a hamstring.

It was touch and go whether he would play on Tuesday night at West Ham, but a late fitness test cleared the way for him to take his place in the side.

But the player had to be taken off at half time and will now miss Sunday's clash with Aston Villa at St Andrew's.

McLeish said: 'We hope Scott isn't too bad but he has definitely torn a hamstring.

'He passed a fitness test on the morning of the cup game.

'Sometimes players want to play through even a wee niggle.

'Sometimes they get away with it but sometimes they can end up with a bad injury.'
