'If It's Football, It's Vital'

You've Got To Be Young & Hunrgy

Steve Bruce has declared 'We can't have any hangover from relegation, we've got to hit the ground running' after the players returned to pre-season training.

Bruce said they were shocked that there were 'straight into it' adding 'they worked very, very hard but that's the way it's got to be.'

To right that is the way it has to be. It has to be that way to repay every single fan who spent their hard earnt money last season watching the dross. We now need to see pride from the players.

The Blues manager added: 'We've got to get off to a good start. I've already targeted the first 10 games. We did a presentation to the players on Wednesday about the first 10 games of last season highlighting the fact that last season we took one win. We need to go and set our stall out straightaway in the division.'

Bruce has targeted 'young and hungry' players after admitting he was 'guilty of looking after the players who had served the club so well.'

Blues have cleared a fair amount of dead wood and older players from the books and the spending so far this summer has been focussed on bringing in young players to set us up for not only this season but hopefully many more to come.
