'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Keane Claims Blues Interest Was For Publicity

Robbie Keane says that the episode with Birmingham City was nothing more than a publicity stunt and they had no intentions of buying him.

City dropped the idea of signing the Tottenham player because the two parties could not agree personal terms after the two clubs had agreed a fee of 6 million for the 30 year old.

'It was never going to happen,' he told Sky Sports News.

And as for the player being linked with West Ham United, he added: 'I haven't heard anything at the moment but we will just see what happens.

'But like I said, that Birmingham stuff yesterday was a bit bizarre with a statement coming out from them, which I found very strange.

'A deal was never really on the table, so I just think that Birmingham was looking for a bit of publicity really.'
