'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McLeish: 'You couldn't ask for more.'

City manager Alex McLeish took plenty of heart from the performance against Bolton on Saturday considering the problems he had with injuries ahead of the game.

But even though he saw pluses in the efforts put in by his depleted side, he did have some criticism about the way his side defended at times.

He said: 'Our lads, despite the problems we had with injuries, put in a magnificent effort.

'You couldn't ask for more in terms of commitment and effort.

'But we were a bit sloppy with the goals.

'When your back four changes, they may not gel straight away and it was evident with the first and third goals.

'But overall the performance of the team was a plus.'
