Out Of Contract Players Must Wait For Talks

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has revealed that contract talks with several players will be put on hold until the end of the current season.

The likes of Sebastian Larsson, Lee Bowyer, Kevin Phillips, Stuart Parnaby, James McFadden, Martin Jiranek, Stephen Carr and Maik Taylor all have deals that come to an end in the summer, although Blues can take up an option on some of the contracts if they wish.

Loan players Obafemi Martins, David Bentley, Alexander Hleb and Matt Derbyshire will also be looking to McLeish to see if there is any hope of City taking the players on full time.

McLeish said: 'Everything is on hold in relation to contracts. Nothing like that will be getting addressed just now.

'We have got to concentrate on climbing up the Premier League in the remaining seven matches.'
