Exit Door Is Busy At St Andrews

Birmingham have confirmed that three top players are out of the exit door at St Andrews after the club was relegated from the Premier League into the Championship.

Out goes Kevin Phillips, Sebastian Larsson and Lee Bowyer, also following them are Maik Taylor, Martin Jiranek and Stuart Parnaby. All six players have left the club on the expiry of their contracts.

Better news is that Stephen Carr stays with the club after the option for another year in his contract was taken up, Spanish midfielder Enric Valles also signs a one year deal.

The club would also like to keep James McFadden and discussions are on-going with the player.

Chairman Peter Pannu told www.bcfc.com 'We have discussed strategies and player movements and policies.

'Suffice to say there is by and large consensus in the way we believe we should proceed.'
