Fans Favourite On The List, Cotterill Is Not

Birmingham City have confirmed that they are not considering Steve Cotterill for the vacant manager`s job, but they do have a list of around six that they are interested in.

The Cotterill reports on Monday were, as we thought and hoped, wide of the mark, but the fans favourite for the job is apparently on the Blues shortlist.

Gianfranco Zola, Roberto Di Matteo and Chris Hughton are all interesting Carson and co.

Whoever they decide to offer the job to, they need to do it fast as they need to get preparing for the assault on the Europa League, not to mention an immediate return to the Premier League after losing their status last term.

Pannu told the Press Association: 'I am discussing the situation with Carson and we hope to install the new man as soon as possible. There are at least six (candidates) on the radar.'

Alex McLeish has humiliated our club. I thought he was an honourable guy, but to do this just afer relegation proves he's just a moneygrabbing ginger ***** with absolutely no scrupples whatsover! And fair play to Peter Pannu for his stand.

For me it just HAS to be Chris Hughton we will never get Martin O Neil cant deny he is a good Manager but he would make demands our board cant deliver. I think we would do allright under him but i doubt he could return us to the premiership with our current squad. My feeling is he would be too cautious and settle for too many draws or to put it another way another Mcliesh.. On the other hand Hughton has the ability to get on with all the players has the attitude to restore confidence and stability AND he plays good attacking football. We need 90+ points to gaurantee automatic promotion thats at least 25 wins. When he took over at Newcastle all the so called top players had jumped ship in the summer and he was left with a squad that may have had experience but many were gettting on a bit. He seemed to bring out the best in what at the time was an average squad. At the moment we have a nucleus of players who have a great future if we can hang on to them. They need to be assured that they have a future here and that we will go straight back up because if we dont we could be stuck in the championship for 5 years at least.
