Forest Chasing Blues Target
Nottingham Forest are stepping ahead in the race to get Colin Calderwood installed as their assistant manager, hoping to put one over on Championship rivals Birmingham City.
There were reports last week that new Blues boss Chris Hughton was looking to team up with Calderwood once again as he tries to mastermind a quick return to the Premier League.
But now Forest also want the Hibernian boss to join up with Steve McClaren, giving them what they see as the dream ticket out of the Championship.
Forest have now made an improved offer to Hibs for Calderwood after their initial offer was turned down last week, and to increase their hopes even more, it`s known that Calderwood would like to move back to England.
McClaren told Sky Sports News: 'We are trying to negotiate with Hibs but they do not want to lose him. He is a good manager, a good coach and that is why we want him.
'So we are trying to get Colin out of Hibs and it is very difficult. He wants to come here and it is the only place he wants to come.
'There is a lot of competition for Colin but there is a willingness on our side to do it and we want to do it. We have to be patient and hope that Hibs will talk, negotiate and get Colin where he wants to go.'
