Hughton Praises Striker

Chris Hughton has not let the efforts of striker Marlon King go unnoticed during the festive period.

King is one of if not the first name on Hughton`s team sheet at the moment and he has repaid the manager`s faith with some important goals for the club.

He was on the mark at London Road last time out when he coolly netted a stoppage time penalty to earn a point, all on the back of having to deal with uncompromising centre-halfs and crowd abuse.

Speaking about the Peterborough game, Hughton told the Birmingham Mail: "It was a tough game for Marlon, but he kept going and never stopped.

"Perhaps one thing I have learned is that your centre-halves at Premier League level have got a little bit more quality on the ball and guile, but in this division you have got Championship-hardened centre-halves who can do all the things necessary to defend.

"You have to be strong as a forward and compete, and Marlon does that."
