Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton couldn`t help feeling that his side deserved more than a draw after the game with Cardiff City on Sunday.
The game ended 1-1 and that was enough to lift Blues back into the play off places and even though they had taken the lead through Erik Huseklepp, But Mark Hudson hit back for Cardiff to give them a share of the spoils.
And it could have been so different for the home side had Marlon King converted the penalty that City were awarded.
But the sides remain locked together in the table, even though Birmingham are highest through goal difference.
Hughton told the Mercury: 'We were not at our best in the first half. We got an improvement in the second half up against a team which floods the midfield, in 95 minutes their goal was the only chance they had.
'We defended well as a team. The penalty miss was disappointing, but I thought we responded well afterwards and when Huseklepp scored I thought it was going to be the winning goal.
'But it was important that we remained solid and after Cardiff equalised we had to make sure we didn't lose the match. It gets us into the top six and it is now our responsibility to stay in that position.'
