Another 3-1 win for Birmingham ensured that Chris Hughton was a happy man on Saturday night after watching his team beat Crystal Palace.
A play off spot looks very likely now for Blues after their comancding display put them 3-0 up just after the half hour mark and even though the visitors pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time, the game was never in danger of being taken away from the home side.
After watching Birmingham consolidate fourth place in the table, Hughton said: 'I am very pleased with the result.
'These sort of games are always going to be tough. Even at 3-0 I was aware that they went to Derby a few weeks ago and were 3-0 down and came back to 3-2 and certainly could have got something out of the game.
'I was certainly disappointed with the goal we conceded as it gave them the lift really we didn't need to give. Over the 90 minutes we certainly had to show both sides our game and I thought we scored three excellent goals.
'Fahey's was the pick of the goals because that type of execution with the ball coming in you have to wrap it across the body. For some it is easy but for most it is a tough skill and that is why it was an outstanding strike. Although it was a fine goal I didn't think that was Fahey at his best. He has been out for a few games but he has had a really fine season.'
