'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gaffers View: Hughton Knows We Are Still In This.

Blues manager Chris Hughton thought that his side played a clever game against Blackpool last night by restricting the chances that the home side had.

Coming away from Bloomfield Road just 1-0 down is not a bad result when you look at how well Blackpool have done on their own patch this season, City kept the game tight and managed to cut out the chances that Pool had, a few times just as they were about to pull the trigger.

When the ball did go in it was because of a very lucky deflection off a shot that wa going wide.

Hughton knows his side have to do better at St Andrews on Wednesday, but is feeling quietly confident that his side can do it.

'We'll certainly have to improve on what we were tonight. We always knew it would be a difficult game with the way that they play,' he said.

'They get a lot of possession because of the shape and the numbers that they get into the middle of the park, and all you can do is you can try to restrict them to minimal chances, which I thought we did.

'I thought they had a couple of good chances, but of course they had good possession. We didn't use the ball well enough. If I look at certainly how we've been away from home of late, whether that be in our general play or whether that be on the counter we've generally been better on the ball.

'So we need to be better than that, but we have an opportunity now to take them back to St Andrew's.'
