'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Diop Still Plays The Waiting Game

Former West Ham United midfielder Papa Bouba Diop is still anxious to find out whether or not he has done enough to earn a contract with Birmingham City.

The 34 year old is a free agent after he was released by West Ham at the end of last season.

He has been on trial with City for a week or so, but has yet to be given the go ahead by the City boss.

'I am trying to convince the managerial staff of Birmingham. If I can get a deal here, I would like it. Birmingham is a big club, at my age it is a great challenge. I hope to impress them and get a contract,' he told Sky Sports News.

Diop has made a total of 63 appearances for Senegal.
