Lita Wins It For Blues

Leroy Lita came up with a late goal that gave Birmingham City an unlikely away win at Leeds on Saturday.

Blues went into the game without a win in four games while Leeds were unbeaten in the last six so you could have been forgiven for making the home side the favourites.

Blues upped their game in a pretty even contest with both sides having chances to break the deadlock but it wasn't until the 76th minute that the goal that won the game came along through Lita.

Before that Nathan Redmond had two chances but squandered them both and when he set up Curtis Davies with a cross, the latter could not find the target.

At the other end Jack Butland was proving that he is one of England's best by pulling of great saves to deny Luciano Becchio, Rudolph Austin and Michael Tonge before the break and another from Samuel Byram after the interval.

Marlon King also went close but Paddy Kenny was also in good form when he got down to save his low shot.

So it was left to Swansea man Lita to swerve a shot from 25 yards into the top corner of the net to give Blues all the points and at the same time lifting the club up to 17th in the Championship.

Much better really, lets see what happens in the next game though before I start jumping for joy.
