Bruce Speaks On Double Edged Sword

Steve Bruce has labelled the success of Bendtner as a double edge sword for Blues.

The club have a verbal agreement with Arsenal to keep the player until the end of the season, but recently there have been stories suggesting that Chelsea will try and snap up the player.

'I don't know where the Chelsea story came from. I was as mystified as anyone else.

'But I think Arsenal know as we know that it is a double-edged sword for us. The better he does, then great for us, but does he then go back?

'As far as I am concerned, verbally, he is here for the season. I hope that is the case. We've got such an agreement in place unless something untoward happens.

'But there is a break in the agreement around Christmas-time just in case Arsenal get three or four injuries.

'Everyone knows Nicklas Bendtner now, don't they? They didn't three or four weeks ago. But you have to realise he has only played five or six times and there are times when you have to realise he is an 18-year-old.

'He is not a seasoned pro who has played at this level for a long time but I think you can all see that he has got something. You think, 'he is a player'.'
