'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gills Defender Has Clark's Interest.

Lee Clark is trying to find a way of bringing Gillingham midfielder Jack Payne to St Andrews according to the local press.

The 21 year old was at Peterborough United on a loan spell for part of last season and he did a lot to impress both staff and fans at London Road.

Clark has been a fan of the player for a while, but a move to City could be a non-starter after the failure to bring in Paul Caddis from Swindon Town because of the lack of funds.

Which is good news for Darren Ferguson and Peterborough who are themselves trying to bring the player back to London Road on a permanent deal, Barry Fry has held talks with Gills but so far he has been unsuccessful in capturing the man who made 14 appearances for them last term.

Personally, I don't see this move coming about unless there is a chance of getting him for no fee or maybe a loan.

Its sad when you think that now we have sunk so low that we cannot afford second rate players from Gillingham.
