'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jonty To Remain Captain

Despite his sending off and the previous incident, Steve Bruce has said that Damien Johnson will remain club captain.

Speaking on the official site Bruce said:

'You always know that he's got a bit of that red mist and anger - it's just a matter of controlling it.

'He is man enough to take it when he makes a mistake.

'He has been gutted all week that he will miss about a month of football which is the biggest punishment he could have.

'He has been in this morning working harder than anyone else, and everybody knows what he contributes to the team.

'It is frustrating being without Johnson and N'Gotty. That is the biggest thing for me that they are not available.

'If you go into a tackle and you mistime it, then you are unfortunate.

'What we have got to stop is the silliness, like dissent, and I have reminded them of that in no uncertain terms.'
