Upson Return Delayed
Matthew Upson has had to abandon hope of returning to action in October and is now driving towards a November return.
The influential defender has been sorely missed in both our relegation season and also this season when our defence has sadly taken a trip down the local highstreet and forgotten what they were meant to be doing.
The 27 year old has been pencilled in for a return to reserve action on October 8th but that has since been scrapped with both manager and player not wanting to create more problems by returning too quickly.
Speaking to the press Bruce said:
'Matthew did his Achilles tendon in April but that was due to be his first game in a couple of months as he had an abductor problem.
'He has not played since February against Arsenal. He needs a couple of reserve-team games under his belt and maybe next week he will return to full-time training.
'Matty is getting close to fitness but he is maybe two or three weeks away from the first team - at least. It would be help having him back, that's for sure.'
Upson himself admitted:
'I want to make sure everything is 100% right when I come back. It's been a frustrating time but I want to hit the ground running when I am available and stay in the side.'
