Macheda Joins Up With Championship Rivals

Birmingham City will be meeting up with striker Federico Macheda next season after the player agreed to join Cardiff City on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old had a good season with Blues but next term will line up against his old side as Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League.

Macheda worked with Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær previously at Old Trafford and joins up with his old team mate again on July 1, there is no transfer fee.

Macheda said to Cardiff's official site after passing his medical: 'It's a massive opportunity for me and it is with thanks to Ole Gunnar Solskjær that I am here.

'Last season I had a good spell on loan at Birmingham City, but this is a new chapter of my career now and I can't wait to get started and show everyone who I am.'
