Blues to Front Foot Home Games

Blues to Front Foot Home Games

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has revealed that he did look at the 4-4-2 formation on Saturday despite being unable to go ahead with the ploy against Mansfield.

"We had both systems on view, which I was going to do at Mansfield."

Clark has said that home games may now see Blues go two up front so the team are more likely to be on the front foot. Blues struggled massively at home last season and the manager may be hinting that the team just wasn`t strong enough to control a game.

The players are all fighting against each other for a place in the team, said Clark. He is pleased with how the competition for places is going and revealed there will be some disappointed lads come selection time.

Blues now have switched from fitness training to tactical and technical training, the manager said he is pleased with how the last three weeks have gone.

"We are starting to taper down now. It`s looking at the sharpness side of it, the tactical.

The lads have got the base fitness into them so we can start concentrating, really hone in, on how we are going to approach the first couple of games."

Blues could well be a new look outfit at home next season, they probably need to be to improve on last season`s home points return.

Not sure how he can be so sure this team will be able to go 442 at home either tbh, how is it possible to be so sure they will have enough of a foot hold in the games when the team is made up of players who have been relegated from this division before and players from a lower division.

I hope that first win at home doesn't take too long to come, can't bare this run to continue onto the new players
