David Davis Signs for Blues

Birmingham City have signed Wolves central midfielder David Davis for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with Blues and will be eligible for Tuesday's League Cup match against Cambridge.

Davis' arrival came less than a week after Blues midfielder Tom Adeyemi joined Cardiff and made his debut on Friday.

Lee Clark has said:

"He's a modern day central midfielder, box to box. He's tenacious and has a turn of pace. He fits the bill for us"

Davis made 61 appearances for Wolves and also had loan spells at Darlington, Walsall, Shrewsbury Town, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Chesterfield.

Apparently he is slow on the ball, takes too many touches. These Wolves fans could be playing him down to me though!

He's great.. I've watched him for a few years now. He keeps the ball well, and will try risky passes but not the same one if it doesn't work. Think the wolves fans are jealous ;) plus he's not bad on the eye is he..? :P

Haha I think they are maybe a bit jealous, one of my friends does rate him reasonably. They have plenty of talent in their team at the moment so I think they are being a bit overly harsh ha.

Let's just say, he's better than gleeson... Everyone can agree on that :P

Yes, agreed. Gleeson was poor on Saturday.

Is he better than what we have now?

Yes, Harry. Id say he's better than Tom too! What did you guys think of Eardley on Saturday?

Tom who? I don't know a Tom ;) haha and well Eardley needs to raise his game personally, I prefer Caddis

I do too Harry!! Just someone said to me that if Caddis plays right back, you're left with Edgar brown or Gleeson in the middle which leaves us light. I didn't agree.

He looks strong, but he won't be as good as Adeyemi. Adeyemi was good at getting forward and supporting the attack as he was good at defending

Nahum, I do know that he is good at linking play well. To be honest, I know people are saying they're similar, but I think they have different attributes so it is hard to compare.. But good point, Nahum!

Sask being a top diplomat there! haha - Eardley is still coming into the team so I'm going to wait a few weeks before judging him. I am a Caddis fan also, though. I'm not so sure Caddis playing right back leaves us light with his versatility, people like spector can also come and fill in here and there.

Yeah Sask Davis seems to be more a tackler and more defensive minded, whereas Adeyemi is both but more of an attack minded Midfielder. Good point there Sask

Chris I think Spector is very sloppy in his passing. The thing is he wins the ball, but then loses it. Yeah I'd agree give Eardley some time, but he'd does seem to be a bit slow, but he has a good right foot to send through balls.

Thank you Chris haha! I agree with you both about Eardley.. Although I actually would prefer Reilly there. In terms of Spector, very injury prone and as Nahum pointed out, not a good passer.

Davis and Edgar would be brilliant holding midfielder partnership, but we would still need an attacking player on front of them. Brown could do it but not all season long.. I'd have liked Lewis Baker from Chelsea.

He has been the best English youth player the past 3 years and he picks out a pass better than most pro's! Clarky has said he'll use Davis as a box to box midfielder as he brings pace and a good tackle.

We need that in midfield because we seem to lack a spark

Great point Nahum. We were lacking that. Davis will give Robbo a run for his money in yellow cards though.

Spector is still back up even if he is a bit lacklustre, hence Caddis is free to okay right back!
