'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Upson Pompey Bound

Well that's what Harry would like to happen as he admits he's still keeping his eye on the player.

In a brief interview with Sky Sports Harry Redknapp admitted that he is keeping tabs on Matthew Upson and that he believes he's a very good player.

Upson isn't far from returning to action after battling back from the injury that he sustained in the warm up against the Vile last season.

The problem being if he makes a successful return to action it is likely a number of clubs will try and convince him his future lies elsewhere.

Pompey especially have seen a number of injuries in defence and speaking to SSN Redknapp said:

'It's true I'm looking at our defensive situation.

'Matthew Upson is a good player, that's for sure.'

If he's fit, we'll have him.

It was always going to be a struggle to keep him and if he's fit enough for first team football by January I'm sure he will go. With the rollercoaster ride that comes with Bruce's style of management who could blame him? I think he will go to a club with bigger pockets than Pompey.

The Mirror have an exclusive today apparently from Sullivan who has said that Upson and Dunn will be off in January. Got to read it in full and I'll story it shortly. Was always unlikely we would get to keep him sadly, especially if he's stalling on a contract we'll have to cash in to make sure we don't lose him for nothing.

No surprises about Dunn either. I think he's a good player but unlucky with injury and very expensive in wages terms. If rumours of his drinking exploits are to be believed perhaps he's not been that unlucky!! Another Merson?

catch 22 situation ..you have a successful team and a good player within that and they start to attract the attention that may finally take them away from your club....I am sure harry will have a number of players that he has his eye on though
