'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clemence Enjoying New Lease Of Life

Stephen Clemence is loving his role as the experienced statesman in the Blues side.

Speaking to the local press Clemence confirmed he loved being the more experienced player and being able to help along the youngsters.

'We have got a lot of younger players now and sometimes they need a bit of help and advice.

'In that second-half, I wasn't happy with the way it was going. I am sure all the players weren't happy. All I was trying was to get us to keep going and do the simple things again.

'When it gets like that and there is a bit of pressure and the fans are getting a little bit agitated, people can get a bit excited because of their inexperience.

'You just try and tell them to calm down, keep things simple for a bit and get a foothold back in the game because every time they got possession of the ball they were smashing it over the full-backs' heads and we were defending in our own box again.

'Obviously the manager is looking to a few of us older ones - although there's not many of us left now.

'I am enjoying it, the responsibility, and just being back in the team and playing football.

'We could have been 1-0 up after 30 seconds and with chances, and they weren't half-chances, we should have been three or four up by half-time.

'But in the second-half, we didn't play as well as we have been playing. There were certain elements of our game missing.

'I think the experience side of things does come into it. A lot of the lads, especially the attacking players, are 18-19,and they are going to be inconsistent.

'They are not probably fully developed men yet either. You've got to understand every game they are not probably going to be firing on all cylinders.

'But they produced enough to get us another couple of goals. And you've got win these games when you are not playing as well. That's what we did, and the run carries on.'
