Striker Signing Not Guaranteed

David Sullivan has said that Blues won't definitely be signing a new striker in January.

Speaking to the local press Sullivan warned that a new striker for Christmas wasn't a guarantee and that with how things stood there wouldn't be a signing.

This is bound to displease fans who are still unsure if Arsenal may recall Bendtner and let's not forget that Mikael Forssell is now again out for at least 3 months.

With Sullivans earlier comments that Blues would be looking to cash in on David Dunn and Matthew Upson, his comments that funds wouldn't be available for a striker in January will have come as a shock to most fans, especially as the club slashed the wage bill at the start of the season and made a clear profit of £4 million in sales.

'If we don't get any more injuries then I'd say 'no', we don't need another.

'Gary McSheffrey is very good up front, he could easily move there from the wing if need be and score goals.

'We will have to see what the circumstances are nearer the time and what money is available.

'We have got a situation where we might have to sell some players.

'Matthew Upson has 18 months on his contract and won't renew, maybe he should be sold otherwise we could end up with nothing.

'We have a two-year option on David Dunn in the summer at a very, very high wage.

'Again, it might be that he has to be moved because of that and the injury problems he has had.

'They would raise money so we could bring a striker in but where do you get one better than those we have already?'
