'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Upson Wants Blues To Cash In On Him

Well Matthew Upson can't make it anymore clear really, he wants to go now that we've paid his wages for months while he's been injured.

Nice to see now he's a bit of a name that he wants to move to another club and not work to get Blues back into the Prem either.

Speaking to the local press he said:

'I have refused a contract and nothing has happened since then. I think it may be in City's interest, if they want to get as much money as they can for me, to sell me the sooner the better.

'It will be worth more doing it that way because of the length of time I have left on my contract.

'I don't know whether they are thinking like that. I don't know if they want to keep me. I really haven't a clue. Could things happen in January? It is something I can't predict.

'All I can do is make sure I am in the best possible condition I can be in. I haven't got a clue. I made a calculated decision and I don't regret it at all.'

He doesn't know if Blues want to keep him, well the fact he's 'refused' a contract even for the most stupid of footballers would indicate the club have made an effort to keep him.

The Fear
Of course we would all like to think he should show some loyalty but lets all get real - there is no loyalty in football! We also need to remember that this is a player who has now recovered from two career threatening injuries. Perhaps the time is right for Blues to cash in while they can. Would it be too surprising to find out that the club might actually be behind some of Upson's "publicity" in an attempt to talk up the asking price?
Buzby66
Typical Upson really. Might have known he'd want to **** you! ;)

when he was at arsenal he wanted to go cos he didn't play enough, now he wants to go becuase ? the boy is an idiot you are sitting top of the league, and he want sto go, silly boy really.. if bruce wants to talk about another loan player we have a few CB that are worth a loan period, Traore is the kid to go for although a LB, class act though ;)

The problem is Buzby, the more people accept there isn't loyalty in football the worse it will get. Contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on thesedays and there's far too much power in the hands of players. If Upson wants out, fair enough he should be honest about it and not say stupid things like he doesn't know if the club want him and such a transfer should create moves to provide insurance (not paid for by the club but by the player) to cover wages when they can't earn them.
